Gold Hussaini Tulwar

Gold Hussaini Tulwar

A 18th Century Tulwar with a West Indian hilt with knuckle guard and zoormorphic finial, likely of Gujarat origin, decorated with thick gold overlay. The inside of the pommel disc shows remnants and some remaining legible Devanagari or Sanskrit inscription (yet to be translated). Despite the loss to the hilt, one can imagine how this sword must’ve looked in its prime!

Attached is a 19th century pattern-welded tulwar blade with false edge and grooves that give it the “Hussaini” characteristic.

Condition is as shown and for buyer awareness, there is simply minor movement in the pommel disc and two sections of the pommel disc “phul” missing. No blade movement whatsoever.

Accompanied by a contemporary yet jaded red velvet scabbard with yellow dori.
