18th Century Wootz Katar

18th Century Wootz Katar

This exceptional North Indian Katar features a robust wootz steel blade of superior quality, forged with two bold fullers that taper into a reinforced, armor-piercing tip. The fullers are separated by a prominent central rib adding both strength and symmetry, a hallmark of high-tier craftsmanship meant for penetrating heavy mail or plate armor. Approximately 25% of the original gold koftgari work survives. A sidearm likely reserved for a warrior of elevated rank or noble lineage.
